Job Title: Varsity Football Head Coach Job Overview: Harpursville Central School District is excited to welcome a passionate and dedicated Varsity Football Head Coach to lead our student-athletes toward excellence on and off the field. Key Responsibilities: Develop a comprehensive football program focused on skill-building, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Plan and execute practices, conditioning programs, and game strategies tailored to available resources and student strengths. Create a positive, inclusive, and safe environment where all players feel valued and encouraged. Collaborate with school administration, staff, and the athletic department to align goals and maximize student engagement. Mentor and guide players academically and personally, emphasizing the importance of character and leadership. Establish strong relationships with families, community members, and stakeholders to generate support for the football program. Work to recruit and retain student-athletes to ensure program sustainability. Commit to fostering a culture of pride, integrity, and perseverance in the football program. Organized and takes a systematic approach to cultivating teamwork with their staff and program development. Qualifications: Prior coaching experience at the high school level or higher (head coaching experience preferred but not required). Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective coaching strategies. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Understanding of the unique needs and benefits of working in a rural school program. A commitment to student success both on the field and in the classroom. Ability to inspire and motivate young athletes. Must meet all NYSPHSAA coaching certification requirements (or be willing to pursue certification). Program Support & Facilities: Access to school athletic facilities and equipment, new field will be completed through existing capital project. Support from administration to rebuild and strengthen the program. Opportunities for professional development and mentoring through state athletic associations.
