Located in Albany, New York’s historic West Hill neighborhood, the Henry Johnson Charter School (HJCS) is a unique K-4 district with an enrollment of approximately 350 scholars.HJCS has an opening for a special education teacher starting in August 2024. The ideal candidate will bring an understanding and respect for children and families from diverse backgrounds, and a strong knowledge of special education. Candidates should be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families to help students reach high levels of success and must be able to adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, such as reading, writing, math, and science. The special education teacher will work within a diverse environment of dynamic learners. This position will require a high degree of creativity, cultural awareness, and problem-solving capabilities.
