The Occupational Therapist shall: Establish and maintain as positive, respectful and supportive relationship with all students and staff.Maintain an effective data-management system.Plan and implement habilitative/rehabilitative programs of therapy following established occupational therapy protocols in accordance with the student’s IEP that will develop, improve, sustain or restore skills in academic, daily living, school and leisure activities.Conduct individual and group therapy in the areas of fine and gross motor development, visual and sensory perception, reasoning, cognitive and functional self-care.Recommend and train students and staff in the use of assistive technology or orthotic devices.Interpret evaluations conducted by CSE other provider.Maintain and interpret student records including but not limited to IEP’s.Assist principal in resolving student needs, issues, and problems.Conduct observations in the school setting and make adjustments to the instructional program as necessary.10. Utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency.11. Maintain and ensure an accurate student therapy record system.12. Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings.13. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and effective work ethic.14. Display ethical behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.15. De-personalize students’ inappropriate behaviors especially when directed toward you.16. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising responsibilities and duties and disclose such information within legal confines with prior approval of administration.17. Adhere to all applicable Federal and New York State Board of Education rules and regulations and The Hallen School policies and procedures.18. Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by their supervisor and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
