College Career Readiness Teacher - Reposted (previous applicants need not reapply)SummaryStrengthen the belief that all children can attend an institution of higher education. Serve as an on-site collegeand career readiness teacher and assist with implementation of College and Career Readiness Standards. Workwill consist of teaching college readiness courses which will include PSAT/SAT/ACT test preparation andproviding vertical alignment with middle school.1. Develop and implement lesson plans that prepare students to take the PSAT/SAT/ACT.2. Develop and implement lesson plans that prepare students for the college essay writing process.3. Use College and Career Readiness indicators and student survey data to develop instructionalobjectives to plan teaching.4. Utilize college readiness indicators in the learning community to identify students for IB courses,college level courses and/or the Woodlands Individualized Senior Experience (W.I.S.E.)5. Use appropriate instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of the learning stylesand instructional needs of students assigned.6. Provide formative and summative assessments of student achievement and use results to planinstructional and college and career readiness activities. Conduct ongoing assessment of collegereadiness through formal and informal testing.7. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for specialeducation students according to guidelines established in the students Individual Education Plans(IEP’s).8. Work cooperatively with instructional program teachers and community members who impactassigned students.9. Use technology to enrich and strengthen the teaching/learning process.10. Assist middle school students with selecting high school courses that align to their chosen careerpathway and academic course of study.11. Collaborate with campus administrators, guidance staff, content specialists and community membersto plan orientation, coordinate instructional nights for parents, host college and career fairs, and setup test prep tutoring.12. Coordinate with teachers, counselors, content specialists, institutes of higher education, communitymembers and campus administrators to develop and evaluate college and career readiness initiatives.13. Participates in required professional development with external vendors/contractors that focus oncollege entrance examination test sophistication techniques.QualificationsAny combination of dual secondary level certification (e.g., 7-12 English Language Arts and Special Education;7-12 English Language Arts 7-12 and Social Studies, etc.). Note these are illustrative only.Valid high school teaching experience preferred.
