Position Description - College Career Readiness TeacherSummaryStrengthen the belief that all children can attend an institution of higher education. Serve as an on-site college and career readiness teacher and assist with implementation of College and Career Readiness Standards. Work will consist of teaching college readiness courses which will include PSAT/SAT/ACT test preparation and providing vertical alignment with middle school.Develop and implement plans that prepare students to take the PSAT/SAT/ACT.Develop and implement plans that prepare students for the college essay writing process.Use College and Career Readiness indicators and student survey data to develop instructional objectives to plan teaching.Coordinates the Woodlands Individualized Senior Experience (W.I.S.E.)Utilize college readiness indicators in the learning community to identify students for IB courses, college level courses and/or W.I.S.E.Use appropriate instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of the learning styles and instructional needs of students assigned.Provide formative and summative assessments of student achievement and use results to plan instructional and college and career readiness activities. Conduct ongoing assessment of college readiness through formal and informal testing.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in the students Individual Education Plans (IEP’s).Work cooperatively with instructional program teachers and community members who impact assigned students.Use technology to enrich and strengthen the teaching/learning process.Assist middle school students with selecting high school courses that align to their chosen career pathway and academic course of study.Collaborate with campus administrators, guidance staff, content specialists and community members to plan orientation, coordinate instructional nights for parents, host college and career fairs, and set up test prep tutoring. Coordinate with teachers, counselors, content specialists, institutes of higher education, community members and campus administrators to develop and evaluate college and career readiness initiatives.QualificationsAny combination of dual secondary level certification (e.g., 7-12 English Language Arts and Special Education; 7-12 English Language Arts 7-12 and Social Studies, etc.). Note these are illustrative only.Valid high school teaching experience preferred. Knowledge of dual credit guidelines, advanced placement, PSAT/SAT and ACT.
