Qualifications:THIS IS A PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT – The successful candidate must take and pass the Glen Cove Civil Service Head Custodian examination when first offered and qualify for placement on the List of EligiblesMinimum two years’ satisfactory experience in building cleaning and maintenance activitiesBasic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systemsAbility to work under pressure, meet deadlines and remain flexibleAbility to effectively manage a complex building and motivate custodial staffFingerprint clearance through NYSED and “Letter of Good Conduct” from your Local Police Department required Essential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Assigns and supervises cleaners and custodians; Reports to the Director of Facilities and coordinates with the building principal to ensure proper operation of building Checks and performs minor maintenance of the following on a daily basis: school playground equipment, boiler(s), HVAC; electrical, pneumatic, lighting, PA, burglar and fire alarm systemsReplaces burned out lights, small fixtures, and ballastsPerforms minor carpentry and plumbing repairsPaints, vacuums, strips and waxes floorsReplaces floor tilesClears leaves and snow from sidewalks and building entrances/roof drainsMoves furniture and equipmentTrack inventory and order supplies as neededSets up rooms for various eventsRemoves garbage and graffiti from the buildingAssists teachers and other school staff to expedite work orders and performs other duties as assigned that support the needs of childrenCompiles and completes various reports and work ordersResponds to calls from police and fire departmentsPerforms other custodial duties as designed Location: Deasy Elementary School Time: 7:00am-3:30pm Deadline: April 19, 2024 Effective: Immediately Application Instructions: Qualified candidates should apply via OLAS or via email with resume and cover letter to personnel@glencoveschools.org
