Job Description: Develop language acquisition and cognitive academic language skills through the use of sound instructional techniques. Provide the English Language Learner (ELL) the opportunity to grasp the academic, social, and cultural aspects of the English language through the teaching of reading, writing, listening & speaking, while encouraging active student engagement. Qualifications: NYS ESOL (K-12) Certification Bilingual in Spanish preferred Fingerprinting clearance required Essential Duties (include, but are not limited to): Meet and teach assigned classes and caseload Design and deliver instruction aligned with the Next Generation Learning Standards to ensure rigorous, standards-based teaching and learning Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of learners at varying levels and promote equitable access to the curriculum Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and supports all students Maintain accurate and complete records to track the progress of individual students Communicate with parents regarding the progress of individual students Use assessment tools to guide instruction Strive by instruction and action to implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives Complete other duties as assigned
