The successful candidate will begin on or about July 1, 2025. This is a full-time probationary appointment leading toward tenure. Preference to individuals with School Counselor Certification in NYS. Those with certification in school counseling and those pursuing will be considered. This position will be posted on OLAS and application may be submitted there. Responsibilities:Plan and implement a school counseling program (educational, vocational, social) to meet the needs of all the age groups involved in grades 7-12. Assess and identify student needs, developing and implementing targeted interventions for at-risk students.Counsel with individuals and groups as situations may demand. Provide opportunities as needed for a student to discuss their plans and or problems to analyze their goals, to appraise themselves in relation to their objectives and to formulate a plan for achieving goals.Maintain positive relationships with students and parentsMaintain the health and safety of all studentsCollaborate with parents, administration, classroom teachers, special education, and academic intervention service providersKnowledge of computers, technology, google suite, is strongly desiredCoordinate with community agencies for additional student support services when necessary. Provide crisis intervention as needed and act as an advocate for students' best interests.Qualifications:New York State Certification as a School CounselorAbility to build rapport with students, parents, and staffExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong leadership qualitiesProficiency in counseling techniques, crisis intervention, and student information systemsCertification is preferred, but applicants pursuing certification (nearing completion) are also encouraged to apply.Application deadline is April 17th, 2025Salary and Benefits: Competitive and commensurate with experience- As outlined in the most recent GBTA Collective Bargaining Agreement
