Position OverviewThe Director of Curriculum provides district-wide leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning. This role advances the goals of the Fabius-Pompey CSD Strategic Plan and integrates the New York State Blue Ribbon Commission on Graduation Measures’ recommendations. The individual in this position supports teaching and learning through curriculum alignment, data-driven instruction, professional development, and innovation in instructional practices, ensuring equitable opportunities and multiple pathways for student success. The Director collaborates with administrators, faculty, the Board of Education and community partners to advance district goals; oversee the evaluation and continuous improvement of instructional programs; provide coaching, supervision and support for staff growth; and offer forward-looking recommendations for future initiatives to anticipate emerging needs and opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & InstructionLead the alignment of curriculum across PreK–12, ensuring vertical and horizontal coherence.Integrate recommendations from the Blue-Ribbon Commission to support innovative graduation pathways.Advance STEAM, CTE, literacy, math, and enrichment initiatives outlined in the Strategic Plan.Support instructional practices grounded in research, such as differentiated instruction and inquiry-based learning.Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to faculty.Serve as the district’s APPR Lead Evaluator.Assessment & DataOversee districtwide assessments (benchmarking, Regents, NYS assessments, AP, and local measures).Collect, analyze and utilize student achievement data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.Support the development of performance-based assessments aligned with state and district initiatives.Monitor and report on plans for instructional improvement to District Leadership and the BOE.Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with administrators, faculty, and staff to advance district instructional goals.Serve as a liaison between curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure cohesive practices.Work with building principals on staff scheduling.Communicate curriculum and assessment priorities effectively to all stakeholders.Strategic InnovationIntegrate 21st-century learning skills, project-based learning, and literacy across curriculum planning.Leverage research, data and stakeholder input to anticipate potential needs and provide forward-looking recommendations for future initiatives.Support equitable access to high-quality instructional resources for all students.Monitor and report on district progress toward Strategic Plan goals related to curriculum, instruction, and student achievement.QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Education or related field.Valid NYS administrative certification (SDL/SDA/SBL or equivalent).Minimum of five years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience.Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, instructional leadership, and assessment.Knowledge of NYSED learning standards, Blue Ribbon Commission recommendations, and instructional best practices.Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.Commitment to innovation, collaboration, and equity in education.Terms of EmploymentReports to Superintendent of Schools.Start date as soon as possible.Full-time, 12-month position (1.0 FTE) Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education.This position is not part of a collective bargaining unit, rather, a personal contract will govern the terms and conditions of employment.Salary commensurate with experience.EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with Board policy and district goals.
