POSTING EAST ROCKAWAY UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT443 OCEAN AVENUEEAST ROCKAWAY, NASSAU COUNTY, NY 11518 DISTRICT TREASURER12 Month Position Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:• Assists in directing all business management functions• Assists in preparing financial and statistical reports for federal, state, and local authorities, including, but not limited to the Board of Education and the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and/or the Superintendent of Schools• Assists in establishing accounting records and procedures to conform to district policy, state, and federal requirements, and installing procedures for encumbrance, expense accounting and distribution of revenues into proper fund accounts• Assists in issuing budget preparation schedule to all district department heads, and in reviewing and consolidating all budget requests and revenue sources to prepare and develop the budget document• Assists in maintaining records of receipts and expenditures and bonded indebtedness• Assists in preparing long-term and short-term financial plans for use by administrators and board who consider education needs, plant development plans, staffing needs, investments, and revenue projections• Assists in developing monthly cash flow statement to aid in determining cash available for investment and/or borrowing needs• Assists in supervision of preparation of payroll, as required• Assists in maintenance of inventory and insurance registers, as required• Supervises staff using data processing equipment in the production of payrolls, accounting data, pupil records, and educational and administrative records, as required• Prepares correspondence relating to function of the position• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations and/or the Superintendent of Schools Qualifications: Preferred candidates have extensive and relevant experience in a school business office or comparable setting. Preferred candidates have an accounting background and/or hold an SDBL certificate. A licensed Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) is a plus. Salary: Commensurate with level of experience.
