We are looking for a passionate, dynamic, and self-motivated Elementary School Counselor to join our team and help make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.PROBATIONARY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELORMinimum Qualifications:NYSED School Counselor Certificate or EquivalentMaster’s Degree in School CounselingProven ability to connect with students, build trust, and create a supportive, inclusive environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.A passion for helping young learners succeed and grow both academically and emotionally.Ability to work independently and take initiative in creating and implementing programs and services.Knowledge of best practices in school counseling and social-emotional learning.Experience with crisis intervention and handling sensitive issues in a school setting is essential.Essential Responsibilities:Provide individual counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.Lead group counseling sessions on topics such as friendship, self-esteem, and conflict resolution.Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics such as empathy, resilience, and problem-solving.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and support students' academic, social, and emotional needs.Participate in school-wide initiatives and programs that promote student wellness, career exploration and a positive school climate.Work with outside agencies and community resources to support students and families.Maintain confidential records and documentation for counseling services provided.Serve as a resource for staff and parents, offering guidance and strategies for supporting students’ development.Position Summary:As an Elementary School Counselor in the East Rockaway School District, you will play a vital role in creating a positive school culture, supporting students’ emotional well-being, and helping them develop strong social and academic skills.
