Job Posting: Elementary STEAM Teacher (K-6)Elmsford Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic, creative, and passionate Elementary STEAM Teacher to inspire our students across two of our elementary schools: Carl L. Dixson Elementary School (Grades K-1) and Grady Elementary School (Grades 2-6). Position SummaryThe Elementary STEAM Teacher will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing an engaging, integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) curriculum for students in Grades K-6. This role involves working with students in dedicated lab/maker spaces at both schools and collaborating with general education teachers to foster a culture of inquiry, problem-solving, and design thinking. Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Development: Design and deliver an integrated, project-based STEAM curriculum that aligns with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Common Core State Standards, and district learning goals.Instruction: Teach scheduled STEAM classes to all K-6 students, utilizing hands-on activities, coding, robotics, and design challenges.Maker Space Management: Oversee and maintain the STEAM lab/maker spaces at both elementary schools, ensuring the availability of appropriate and safe materials, tools, and technology.Collaboration: Work collaboratively with grade-level teams to integrate STEAM concepts into core academic subjects.Assessment: Utilize various methods to assess student understanding and growth in scientific literacy, engineering design, and computational thinking.Professional Development: Participate in professional learning opportunities and stay current with best practices in STEAM education.QualificationsExperience: Experience teaching K-6 students, with a strong background in facilitating project-based learning and hands-on activities. Experience with coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, block-based coding) and robotics (e.g., Bee-Bot, LEGO Education) is preferred.Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple grade levels, adapt curriculum, and create an inclusive, innovative learning environment.About Our SchoolsCarl L. Dixson Elementary School: Serves our youngest learners in Grades K-1.Grady Elementary School: Serves students in Grades 2-6.The successful candidate will be a full-time employee, splitting their time between the two school campuses (three blocks apart) to ensure a cohesive STEAM experience for all K-6 students in the district
