TITLE: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction, Technology and Certificated PersonnelREPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsQUALIFICATIONS:The Assistant Superintendent shall hold a valid New York State School District Leader certification. This Assistant Superintendent shall be responsible to the Superintendent of Schools and have leadership responsibility spread equally across all as aspects of curriculum/instruction, technology, and certificated personnel.RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead the development, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and assessment of the District's educational programsOversee the District's technology program, including the direction of the District technology team.Develop, maintain, and communicate the District Technology PlanDirect educational technology initiatives to support curriculum development and initiativesComplete mandated reports relating to areas of responsibility (i.e. NYSED Educational Technology reporting, Smart Bond, etc ..)Update and oversee the development of the district website, and assist school sites with the maintenance of web platformsIdentify training needs and facilitate staff development programs that enhance the district's ability to install, support, and maintain all forms of instructional and information management technologyDevelop and oversee the Technology Department budget, strategic plan, and objectivesProvide direction for district communication systems and student data systemsSupervise and manage the Technology Information Systems departmentAct as the Chief Information Officer and Data Privacy OfficerLead the development, and periodic review of curriculum, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs to meet the ongoing professional growth needs of the certificated personnelSupervise and evaluate the building principalsLead the provision of data and the preparation of district and school improvement plansLead the district testing and assessment programsLead in the development and implementation and evaluation of reporting to parents on educational progress of childrenLead the selection and purchase of instruction materials, special technology equipment, and textbooks.Lead in the preparation and administration of the instructional program and District technology budgetsAttend Board of Education meetings and other meetings as appropriatePrepare reports for the Board of Education and the Superintendent in the areas related to job responsibilitiesLead the district’s efforts to recruit, train and retain quality certificated staff, including but not limited to overseeing certificated personnel office functionsLead the principals in planning and implementing effective supervision and evaluate of instructional programs and staffSupports probationary staff evaluation/tenure recommendation process. Approve request for attendance at professional meetings and conferences for teachers and building administrators.Oversees the processing of requests for certified staff, including Leaves of Absence, Medical Leaves, and Childcare LeavesServe as the District liaison to the New York State education department on all matters related to instructional programs, data reporting, and any other related, NYSED activitiesAssist and participate in negotiations for teaching assistant, teacher and administrator bargaining unitsEnsures compliance with NYS Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations including certification and seniorityManages legal employment issues for certified staff including disciplinary processes, grievances, arbitration, mediation, PERB matters, etc. May coordinate in Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX investigations.Perform other duties as assigned to the Superintendent of Schools
