Eastchester High School is seeking a teaching assistant for a leave replacement position. The successful candidate will work with special education students (either 1:1 or in small group) and supporting students in the community with functional employment and job skills. Position includes escorting the students to and from various job sites within the community as well as community trips to local vendors/employment facilities to acquire job readiness skills and prepare special needs students for employment and more independent performance in community based programsRequirements:New York State Teaching Assistant Certification or completion of the requirements for certification;Ability to work effectively with secondary school age children;Prerequisite:Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law ยงยง305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES). The Commissioner of Education carries out these responsibilities through the New York State Education Department's Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability (OSPRA).
