POSITION: Director of TransportationJOB GOAL: Coxsackie-Athens is seeking a highly organized, reliable, and student-centered professional to serve as the district’s School Transportation Supervisor, overseeing daily transportation operations with contracted bus companies. This individual will also serve as the district’s McKinney-Vento Liaison, School Courier, and is a member of the district wide safety team, ensuring continuity of services that promote student safety, access, and support. This unique role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to fostering safe and equitable transportation for all students.GREENE COUNTY CIVIL SERVICE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; orFive years of experience in the operation of multi-passenger vehicles or the dispatching of motor equipment; orAny equivalent combination of experiences and training,SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS: Eligibility for the appropriate level New York State Driver’s License at the time of application, andpossession of valid driver’s license at time of appointment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS: In accordance with the Safe School Against Violence in Education (SAVE) Legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000; and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education; candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check. REPORTS TO: School Business Official and/or Superintendent of SchoolsPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as the primary district liaison for contracted transportation providers.Coordinate daily bus routes, schedules, field trips, and extracurricular transportation.Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with NYSED,NYDMV,and NYDOT regulations, contract terms, and district safety standards.Address and resolve transportation concerns from families, staff, and drivers.Assist with planning and implementing transportation procedures for emergencies, weather delays, and special events.Maintain transportation records, student rider lists, and reports as required.Coordinates and directs traffic flow patterns on campus.Supervises loading and unloading of buses on campusResponds to and investigates accidentsMcKinney-Vento Liaison when applicableSchool Courier when applicablePerforms a variety of related activities as required.Terms of EmploymentStarting salary based on experience.
