Location: Coxsackie-Athens Central SchoolsQualifications:Certified in a 7-12 content area.Dual certification preferred.Position Summary:Coxsackie-Athens Central Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our FLEX program, working with 9th and 10th-grade students who are part of an at-risk youth initiative. The ideal candidate will create a supportive, engaging, and structured learning environment that promotes academic, emotional, and social growth for students facing unique challenges. You will help students develop critical thinking, reading, writing, and global awareness skills. This program is taking students from at-risk to thriving. Key Responsibilities:Instructional Planning and Delivery:Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards.Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of at-risk students.Use culturally relevant materials and trauma-informed approaches to instruction.Integrate literacy and critical thinking skills into content, with a focus on real-world applications.Promote understanding of global perspectives and historical events in a way that connects to students' lives.Classroom Management:Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.Implement behavior management strategies that support students facing emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges.Establish clear expectations and routines to help students feel secure and ready to learn.Student Support and Engagement:Build strong, trusting relationships with students, demonstrating empathy and understanding.Provide differentiated instruction and personalized support to meet individual academic and socio-emotional needs.Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and support staff to address non-academic barriers.Celebrate students' academic and personal achievements to foster self-esteem and resilience.Assessment and Progress Monitoring:Use formative and summative assessments to track academic progress.Provide regular feedback and adjust instruction based on assessment data.Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student performance and growth.Collaboration and Professional Development:Work closely with colleagues and administrators to create a holistic learning environment.Participate in professional development on best practices for teaching at-risk students and trauma-informed care.Collaborate with staff to support at-risk students across subject areas.Community and Family Engagement:Engage families to promote student success and provide regular updates on academic progress.Collaborate with community organizations to offer additional support for students and families.Start Date: ASAPApplication: Apply on OLAS.orgContact: Julie Wolfe, Human Resources Email: wolfeJ@cacsd.org | Phone: 518-731-1710Join us in inspiring all students to achieve their extraordinary success.
