POSITION: Elementary School LibrarianLOCATION: Coxsackie Elementary School, 24 Sunset Blvd Coxsackie NY 12051POSITION TYPE: Full-timeSTART DATE: January 22, 2024Coxsackie Elementary is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary School Librarian to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a love for reading, promoting information literacy, and supporting the academic development of our elementary school students. The ideal candidate should be passionate about literacy, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be committed to creating a positive and engaging library environment.Responsibilities:Collection Development:Select and acquire age-appropriate books, multimedia resources, and educational materials.Regularly assess and update the library collection to meet the evolving needs and interests of students.Library Programs:Plan and implement engaging library programs and activities that promote literacy, critical thinking, and creativity.Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom instruction.Information Literacy:Instruct students in research skills, digital literacy, and ethical use of information.Foster a culture of information literacy by providing guidance on evaluating and using information from various sources.Collaboration:Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents to support the overall educational goals of the school.Participate in professional development and maintain awareness of current trends and best practices in library science and education.Technology Integration:Incorporate technology tools and resources to enhance library services and support 21st-century learning skills.Assist students and staff in utilizing technology for research and educational purposes.Qualifications:Master’s degree in Library Science or related field.State certification or working towards certification as a School Librarian.Previous experience working in an elementary school setting is preferred.Strong knowledge of children's literature and educational technology.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Application Instructions:Interested candidates should submit the following documents to applegatej@cacsd.org:Cover letterResumeList of professional referencesDeadline for Application: Until Filled.Coxsackie-Athens CSD is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to diversity in the workplace.
