POSITION: Library Media SpecialistLOCATION: High SchoolJOB DESCRIPTION: As a High School Librarian at Coxsackie-Athens High School, you will be responsible for curating and managing a dynamic and diverse collection of books, digital resources, and educational materials. Your role is instrumental in promoting literacy, research skills, and a love of reading among our high school students. You will work closely with both students and educators, providing guidance, resources, and fostering an environment that encourages exploration and discovery.QUALIFICATIONS: ? New York State certification as a library media specialist;? Strong knowledge of library management systems, digital resources, and educationaltechnology.? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.? A passion for reading and a commitment to promoting literacy among high school students.? The ability to collaborate effectively with both students and educators.? Enthusiasm for program and willingness to support classroom instructional program as a resource person.? Knowledge of technology and its application to research and instruction.? Prior experience in a school library or a similar educational setting is preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are examples of typical duties associated with the position; but the list is not all inclusive, and other duties appropriate to the position may also be assigned.1. Manage and maintain the school library, including organizing, cataloging, and shelving materials.2. Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.3. Assist students in finding and selecting appropriate materials for research projects, assignments, and personal reading.4. Develop and deliver information literacy and research skills instruction.5. Stay up-to-date with educational technology trends and incorporate digital resources into the library.6. Promote reading through book displays, reading programs, and author visits.7. Provide a welcoming and inclusive space for students to study, collaborate, and explore.8.
