JOB GOAL: To promote the educational development of each student in a positive, supportive climate and environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Certification as a New York State teacher, and or school counselor, and or school social worker, and/or school psychologist. At least five years teaching experience at the secondary level; Certification and or eligibility and or desire to be certified as School Building Administrator (SBA) and or; School District Administrator (SDA) preferred but not required. Background/experience with at risk students; Other experiences that would support success and are appropriate for this position .Specific Responsibilities:Works with other staff to promote career and life readiness integration into all classrooms and provide support to students in demonstrating readiness indicators.Assist in leading implementation of restorative practices, Responsive Classroom and developing a culture of care to support our students and their families and staff.Work with administrators, counselors, and appropriate staff to develop and implement group and individual interventions to address common low-level behavioral concerns (cell phones, class tardies, etc.).Coordinate mentoring and anti-bullyingWork with appropriate staff to develop appropriate activities for students in lunch/recess detention, in school suspension, or other alternate learning environments to help build pro-social skills and eliminate undesirable behaviors.Able to lead within a professional learning community.Co-leads district wide wellness committee to develop activities and programs that support both student and staff wellness. Works with a growth mindset that results in a future driven approach to leading. Has a whole learner focus that results in no person being marginalized.Responds to student discipline referrals and completes appropriate follow-up with students, parents and teachers. Establishes communication links both within the district and to the community in general.Maintains and provides all documents, lists, records and reports as may be required for school/district operation.Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations.Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attends school-sponsored activities, functions and athletic events as appropriate and available. Works cooperatively with administrators to address building and district-wide issues. Performs other functions or duties as required or directed to support the operation of the school and district.Ten (10) month position with additional summer days as needed.
