Job Overview: The Charter School of Educational Excellence seeks a passionate, innovative educator to inspire students to reach their maximum potential. This role involves fostering a love for learning, building relationships, and creating an engaging space where the students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate will be committed to childhood education and will develop highly engaging lessons. Compensation & Benefits: Salary is based on education, teaching experience, and certification. Annual Salary range; $58,410 -80,520. Health insurance, participating school in the New York State Teacher Retirement System (NYSTRS), paid leave, professional development, and assigned parking space. Responsibilities and Duties: Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum in consultation with the Principal and Directors Plan, implement, and execute engaging and rigorous daily standards-based lessons to ensure that all students master the required content Create comprehensive unit assessments aligned to standards and pacing plans Identify students who are academically at risk and initiate effective intervention strategies Keeping abreast of developments and research in the field, and using this to ensure lessons are relevant Teach students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in an inclusion setting and implement IEPs as necessary Document all syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methods Use consistent school-wide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroom Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methods Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagement Measure student achievement and progress towards learning objectives using the school’s formative and summative assessment tools Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance on a wide variety of metrics Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goals Use student data to reflect on the effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice Submit assessment data and reports to the Principal in a timely manner Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potential Implement and enforce the school’s code of conduct Organize and supervise approved field trips to enhance classroom learning. Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators Develop and use rubrics for evaluating student products and performances Work closely with all members of the school community, model citizenship, collaboration, and support of one another Other tasks as assigned by the Principal or her designee Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is preferred Valid NYS Teacher Certification (7-12) is required Bilingual Certified preferred or Spanish proficiency is preferred Mastery of content knowledge in assigned area (s) of instruction Mastery of assigned subject; knowledge of current practices Work experience & skills: Minimum of two years of experience as a certified teacher Able to improve curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade-level team Passionately dedicated to the school’s mission with a steadfast belief that all students will receive a rigorous academic foundation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required to develop rubrics, examine data, and metrics that will enhance student knowledge and promote performance of superior work products Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators Strong classroom management and organizational skills Proficiency in educational technology (e.g., interactive whiteboards, Google Classroom, i-Ready). Excellent communication skills and a commitment to culturally responsive teaching Passion for working with diverse student populations and supporting the school’s mission and vision Knowledge of childhood development and demonstrated experience with executing planned lessons to meet the differential needs of each student Strong written, grammatical, presentation, and verbal communication skills Experience working with at-risk student population in some capacity preferred Educational experience after college (fellowships, summer study, or graduate course work to pursue greater depth in a subject area, specific instructional methodology, curriculum development, special education, technology, etc.) preferred Proficiency in educational technology (e.g., interactive whiteboards, Google Classroom, i-Ready). Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication skills and a commitment to culturally responsive teaching Work Environment: The teacher must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Teachers often supervise students beyond the classroom (in hallways and at school events) as part of their routine duties. They are expected to maintain a safe and orderly environment in all school settings and follow all school safety protocols and procedures.
