Cooperstown Central School District is current accepting applications for the next Director of Transportation. This salaried, twelve (12) months position offers an attractive salary and benefits package. Salary commensurate with experience; range $55,000-$65,000. The incumbent will be directly responsible for the total transportation program, to include the overall maintenance and condition of the bus fleet within the School District. This position will have supervision over a subordinate staff. The Director of Transportation will report directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations, or other superior in accordance with established policies and procedures. Does related work as required.Successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the transportation industry; good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of buses; ability to plan and to supervise the work of others; ability to prepare and maintain written records and reports; ability to follow written and oral directions; ability to maintain good working relationships with and between subordinates; initiative; sound judgment; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from High School or Possession of High School Equivalency Diploma; AND(a) Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or a New York State registered four year college or university and two (2) years of experience in the transportation field; OR(b) Possession of an Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or a New York State registered college or university and four (4) years of experience in the transportation field; OR(c) Six (6) years of experience in the transportation field; OR(d) An equivalent combination of training and experience as described in (a), (b), and (c) above.Note: At the time of Appointment the individual must possess a valid NYS CDL B license with P&S endorsement, be certified as a 19-A examiner. Certification as an SBDI Trainer preferred.*Please Note: This is a provisional appointment. This position is in the competitive class which will require the incumbent to take a Civil Service Examination to attain permanency.
