Job Description: We are seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to join our facilities team as a Building Maintenance Helper. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our school buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and in working order. The ideal candidate will be skilled in performing a variety of manual labor tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of buildings and equipment.Key Responsibilities:Assist in cleaning, window washing, floor scrubbing, and general upkeep of buildingsCheck boilers to ensure correct operationPerform minor carpentry work (e.g., furniture repair)Prepare surfaces and assist with interior paintingMaintain grounds, including mowing lawns and trimming shrubsReplace light bulbs and fusesClean lavatories and polish metal fixturesAssist with snow and ice removalMaintain tools and mechanical equipmentMay operate light vehicles and maintenance equipmentQualifications:At least one (1) year of experience in general manual laborAbility to follow oral and written instructionsWorking knowledge of basic building maintenance tools and practicesManual dexterity and physical stamina to perform dutiesMust be in good physical conditionAdditional Information: This is a Civil Service position subject to Cayuga County Civil Service rules and requirements.
