The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated 2-month leave position of Mathematics Teacher at Seven Bridges Middle School from 11/1/24 - 12/31/24.Essential FunctionsThorough knowledge of the NYS Mathematics Standards with a strong mathematical background. Develops and actualizes a mathematics learning environment consistent with school district vision, goals and objectives.Knowledge of math content from operations and algebraic thinking to statistics and probability.Candidates will be encouraged to contribute to the vision of our STEAM initiative and knowledge of science standards, experience with science instruction, or coursework/professional development in science is a plus.Experience with social and emotional learning preferred. Knowledge of RULER is a plus.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Strong understanding of adolescent development best practices in middle level education.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Experience with social and emotional learning preferred.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Encourages family involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and families.Certification/License:Mathematics (grades 7-12)This position includes a competitive salary and extensive opportunities for professional development and mentor support.Application deadline: ASAPApply both here on OLAS as well as on our District website www.chappaquaschools.org ("Quicklinks" tab, then "Join Our Team")
