Our priority in Chappaqua is clear: to be a learning organization where talented individuals from diverse backgrounds feel seen and valued, and are committed to doing their best work!Chappaqua CSD is looking for a dynamic and innovative educator to serve in the position of Biology TeacherEssential Functions:Prior experience as a high school science teacher with experience teaching Biology and Science Research.Prior experience teaching AP Biology preferred.Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning, flexible spaces and differentiation of instruction.Extensive knowledge of NYS Science Learning Standards with an emphasis on skill development through a study of biology.Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon various data points, student learning styles and brain-based research. Committed to student-centered and student-driven learning experiences with opportunities for student voice and choice. Candidates will be encouraged to contribute to the vision of our STEAM initiative and our SEL work (knowledge of RULER is a plus).Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Ability to work productively and collaboratively with the faculty and student body.Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence and problem-solving using an inquiry-based approach.Continues to engage in meaningful professional learning opportunities through readings, workshops, podcasts, conferences, and an active PLN. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within the department, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Certification/License:New York State Certification as a Science Education Teacher Grades 7 - 12.Preferred: New York State Certification in Biology.This position includes a competitive salary, benefits and extensive opportunities for professional development.Application deadline: ASAP
