Successful Candidates will demonstrate an ability to (illustrative, not exhaustive): Teach music theory, rhythm, melody, harmony, and notation. Provide instruction in vocal and/or instrumental music. Adapt lessons for different grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school). Use varied teaching methods such as singing, movement, instruments, and technology. Introduce students to different musical styles, cultures, and historical periods. Develop lesson plans that align with NYS standards, and cover topics like music history, composition, performance techniques, and listening and analysis. Prepare students for concerts, competitions, and festivals. Provide feedback and grades based on performance and participation. Plan, coordinate and organize school concerts. Arrange music and manage rehearsal schedules. Maintain and organize musical instruments and equipment. Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment. Collaborate and communicate with other teachers, school administrators, parents and guardians. Participate in faculty meetings and professional development. Encourage creativity and self-expression through music. Help students build confidence, teamwork, and discipline.
