The BMP Ridge Street School is looking for a dynamic and student-centered teacher to serve in a probationary position as a full time Special Education Teacher for an 8:1:1, elementary special class beginning July/August 2023. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:Will have strong behavioral management skills and instructional techniques that foster a healthy and productive academic classroom environment.Will have certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and experience creating individualized programs for students with autism. Will have knowledge and experience with assistive technology and implementation of communication programs. Will have experience administering the New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSSA).Will demonstrate the ability to collaborate with related service providers, grade level staff, and the special class team.Will be skilled in the delivery of instructional guidance and supervision of paraprofessionals.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare daily lesson plans for all instructional periods in a format developed in collaboration with the school administration.Keep accurate records of individual student progress throughout the school year.Provide parents with evaluative feedback on student progress. Develop curricula throughout the school year consistent with the class profile and students’ IEPs in collaboration with school administrative staff.Provide structured time for Parent Training.
