Secondary Math Teacher, NYS CertifiedThe Alexandria Central School District is accepting applications for a tenure track, Mathematics teachingposition for September 1, 2023. Multiple certifications are preferred, but not required.A Probationary appointment will be based on certification and education, NYS Education Laws, and theACFA Teacher’s contract.We are seeking a passionate educator most interested in engaging our students, creating meaningfullearning experiences, developing students’ abilities, and fostering critical thinking skills. The candidate willprovide appropriate learning activities and experiences in assigned Secondary Math classes, motivatingstudents to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and social growth. General responsibilities in thisrole include: Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the NYS Mathematics curriculum. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives tostudents. Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflectan understanding of the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences. Work cooperatively with Special Education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SpecialEducation students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Be a positive and professional role model for students and support our school mission. Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure, and appealing forstudents and in which mutual respect is shown. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents,students, colleagues, administration, and community members. Demonstrate leadership, take an active role in our school; pursue opportunities for extracurricularactivities, clubs, committees, athletics, or other student engagements.ACS is a rural school district located in the heart of the Thousands Islands region of the St. Lawrence Riverin Alexandria Bay, NY.
