Teaching Assistant, NYS CertifiedThe Alexandria Central School District is accepting applications for a certified Teaching Assistant for September 1, 2025.A Probationary appointment will be based on certification and education, NYS Education Laws, and the SEIU’s contract.We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic candidate to support our educators in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for our students. The ideal candidate will provide assistance in various subject areas, help manage classroom activities and behaviors, offer guidance to students as needed, and provide supervision and communication with staff and students. General responsibilities in this role include:Classroom Support: Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials, setting up classrooms, and maintaining an organized learning environment.Student Assistance: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who may require extra help with assignments, homework, or projects.Behavioral Management: Help maintain classroom discipline and assist in implementing classroom rules and behavior management strategies.Supervision: Supervise students during lunch breaks, recess, and other non-classroom activities to ensure their safety and well-being.Resource Development: Collaborate with teachers to create educational resources and visual aids to enhance the learning experience for students.Special Education Support: If applicable, provide support to students with special needs as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your teaching assistant skills and knowledge.Qualifications:Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Patience and empathy when working with diverse student populations.Basic computer skills for record-keeping and resource development.Commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.ACS is a rural school district located in the heart of the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, NY.
