Supervising Groundskeeper Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm *Must be NYS fingerprint approved Minimum Qualifications - Applicants must meet one of the following: High school diploma or GED, and Eight (8) years of satisfactory experience in the care and maintenance of grounds and operation of mechanized groundskeeping equipment, including four (4) years in a supervisory capacity. Substitutions: Up to 2 years of college education in horticulture, landscape development, or a closely related field may substitute for non-supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis. Experience beyond the required 8 years may substitute for up to 2 years of the high school requirement. Special Requirement: Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the position at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Typical Duties: Plans, assigns, and supervises grounds maintenance staff. Oversees mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation, and athletic field maintenance. Supervises snow and ice removal operations. Oversees the operation, maintenance, and repair of grounds equipment and vehicles. Schedules preventative maintenance and repairs. Inspects grounds to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Orders and inventories supplies, equipment, and materials. Trains employees and evaluates their performance. Maintains records, prepares reports, and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
