Number of Positions: 1Salary: $115,000-$125,000Location: F. Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga Springs Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8 hours/dayProvides leadership and overall supervision for such procedures and methods as are necessary for the day to day operations of the Exceptional Learners programs, while ensuring equitable educational opportunities for all students.Provide leadership and coordination for the health, safety and welfare of students and staff in all exceptional learners and alternative education programs;Coordinate the recruitment, employment, supervision and evaluation of Exceptional Learners Division (ELD) staff at both centers in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources;Supervise the program to ensure that students successfully completing an ELD program will have had an opportunity to learn employable job skills and competencies;Maintain close working relationships with community agencies and area service providers; Identify and define job opportunities for students and provides guidance in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services to meet identified job opportunities in conjunction with the Director of Professional Learning and the Director of CTE Programs; Supervise the program so that personnel comply with job related laws, state regulations, and BOCES policies; Oversight and coordination of Extended School Year (ESY) program;Monitor facility maintenance and recommend facility improvements;Maintain membership in and participates in the affairs of professional organizations devoted to Special Education;Recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies;Provide leadership for the development of long term plans for the ELD programs;Provide leadership for new ELD program initiatives;Provide leadership to the BOCES Professional Learning Plan Committee to provide updates to the Professional Learning Plan.Provide leadership for Exceptional Learners staff development activities;Provide leadership for continuous curriculum review and development in concert with component school districts and other divisions; Serve as liaison to component schools and participating agencies; Manage crises and emergencies through established procedures;Supervise transportation as it relates to the Exceptional Learners program in cooperation with other program administrators;Organizes and plans regional meetings for CSE Chairs, and CSO ELD Committee;Serve as a member of the Council of Administrators and Supervisors (CAS);Provide leadership for Instructional Cabinet meetings;Attend and participate in BOCES Board meetings;Communicates directly with component school districts through superintendents, principals, school counselors and the Committee on Special Education and Committee on Preschool Special Education Chairpersons regarding programs in the division;Assist in the development of and monitor the annual Exceptional Learners budget;Actively participate in identifying and obtaining sources of funding for programs and services that is beyond that provided through tuitions from component districts;Monitor enrollment data for the Exceptional Learner programs to ensure appropriate staffing;Implement BOCES Board-approved policies and procedures and State Education Department mandates;Provides leadership in the establishment of new initiatives and the growth of existing programs;Organizes New Teacher Academy, DASA Coordinators Meetings, other divisional meetings;Participate in regional meetings such asWarren County Interagency Meetings, Safe Harbor Meetings, Saratoga County Mental Health Meetings, and other regional meetings as determined appropriate;Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:Valid NYS administrative certification (SDA or SDL);Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
