White Plains High School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Science Special Education Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. We are looking for an educator who is committed to providing high-quality, inclusive instruction while supporting students with diverse learning needs in achieving academic success. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with general education science teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families to design and implement engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes meaningful access to the New York State Science Learning Standards. Responsibilities Provide specialized instruction in science to students with disabilities in a variety of instructional settings. Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies aligned to students' IEPs. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners. Collaborate with science teachers to support inclusive instructional practices and co-teaching models. Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings. Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that promotes student independence and achievement. Utilize data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes. Maintain strong communication with students, families, and colleagues. Candidates must possess: New York State Students with Disabilities (Grades 7–12) certification or Students with Disabilities (All Grades) certification, a nd New York State certification in Chemistry, Biology, General Science, or Physics. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching high school science to students with disabilities. Experience in co-teaching and inclusive classroom settings. Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), differentiated instruction, and evidence-based instructional practices. Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to fostering equitable learning opportunities for all students.
