REPORTS TO: Board of Education JOB OBJECTIVES: Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, The District Treasurer is responsible for the routine duties of accounting, filing, posting and preparing reports and statements concerning District finances.This is an annual appointment, starting 10/1/2025 or earliest opportunity.Salary: $40,000-$60,000 or commensurate with experience.Application Deadline: Position open until filledMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or closely related business field including accounting principles.Substantial understanding of and experience with general accounting principles.Fingerprint clearance through the New York State Education Department.Appointment as a Worcester Central School employee. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.Promote a favorable and positive image of the school district.Promote the proper use and care of school property.Respect personal privacy and maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.Maintain accurate records and submit reports on time. POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAct as custodian of all moneys belonging to the School District and lawfully deposit these moneys in the depositories designated by the Board.Pay all authorized obligations of the District as directed, including payments of bond principal and interest.Maintain proper records and files of all checks, and approved payment of bills and salaries.Make all such entries and post to all such financial ledgers, records and reports, including bond and note registers, as may be properly required to afford the District an acceptable and comprehensive financial accounting of the use of its moneys and financial transactions.Facilitate payments drawn on District fund accounts provided that the District's Claims Auditor has attested to the authority to issue the check based upon proper evidence of a charge against the District's funds.Demonstrate professionalism and contributes to a positive work environment.Organize tasks and manage time effectively.Skillfully manage individual, group, and organizational interactions.Effectively use verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills.Avert problem situations and intervene to resolve conflicts.Exhibit consistency, resourcefulness, and resilience.Complete paperwork accurately and within established deadlines.Assume other duties customary to the office and as directed by the Board of Education. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The District Treasurer is appointed annually by the Board of Education at the Annual Organizational Meeting and will be covered by a blanket bond. EVALUATION: The basis of the evaluation will be the extent to which the performance responsibilities of the job are successfully met. The Superintendent will perform the evaluation of the District Treasurer.
