The West Islip UFSD has an Anticipated opening for a Reading Teacher.Candidate Qualifications: Experience with evidence and research-based intervention literacy practices and programs; Knowledge of student data collection and analysis methods to increase student learning; An understanding of the Response to Intervention process and the Multi-tiered System of Supports framework; The ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues to address student reading needs and support their progress. Responsibilities of Position: Provide push in and pull out literacy support for middle level classrooms and students; Develop and implement individualized and small-group reading interventions to support students with diverse learning needs; Foster a love of reading by creating a positive, literacy-rich classroom environment; Collaborate with 6-8 teachers and support staff to incorporate tiered interventions in literacy instruction; Contribute to the development of school-wide literacy initiatives and reading programs. Certification(s): Literacy (K-12) Required English (7-12) PreferredWilson Reading Certification preferred
