The West Islip UFSD is seeking student-centered educators who are dedicated to professional growth and committed to the success of all students.Certification/Qualification:Teaching Certification or Teaching Assistant CertificationSpecial Education Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Support students through collaboration with the classroom teacher Provide instructional support, intervention and enrichment for students in multiple subject areas Perform all functions to support specially designed classroom instruction as needed The ability to learn and incorporate teaching interventions for students not meeting proficient Review student classwork/homework to provide feedback Must be well organized with strong verbal communication skillsTechnology Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Completing simple repairs of instructional materials and equipment Opening help desk tickets in situations where basic troubleshooting is insufficient Working with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects Facilitating computer lab work; overseeing technical and logistical operation of the computer lab Performing tasks related to the administration of school-wide, district and New York State CBT Facilitating students and teachers in the location and use of available instructional resources Managing records, materials, and equipment Keeping appropriate schedules, as related to the assignment, for spaces and equipment Participating in staff development and professional improvement activities as assigned Participating in building/department meetings as directed by the principal or his/her designeesCandidates should submit a cover letter indicating their preference, if any, and resume through OLAS to the attention of James Cameron, Assistant Superintendent for HR.
