The West Islip School District is seeking an innovative, student-centered, and collaborative leader to serve as our next Elementary School Principal (K-5). We are looking for an educator who pairs a deep understanding of foundational pedagogy with the emotional intelligence necessary to foster a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving school culture. The successful candidate will be a visible presence in our halls, a partner to our families, and a champion for every child’s success. Our next principal will be a "solution-focused" leader who embodies: - Visionary Leadership: commitment to academic excellence and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) for all - Collaborative Spirit: ability to involve teachers, parents, and community stakeholders - Exceptional Communication: clear, transparent, and empathetic engagement with the entire school community - Adaptability: flexibility to navigate the evolving landscape of education with a growth mindset We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record in: - Instructional Leadership: knowledge of the Science of Reading, literacy, and foundational mathematics - Student Support: mastery of the MTSS process and experience meeting the diverse needs of students - School Operations: proficiency in scheduling, school budgeting, and the administration of NYS Assessments - Safety & Culture: ability to maintain a positive, secure learning environment with high-quality supervision - Future Readiness: high level of technological literacy and a thorough understanding of NYS Learning Standards Qualifications & Requirements - Certification: Valid New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), or School District Administrator (SDA). - Experience: Previous administrative experience preferred - Skillset: A demonstrated ability to lead through a lens of equity, innovation, and evidence-based practice.
