The West Islip UFSD has anticipated openings in our World Languages Department for the 2025-2026 school year.Certification Required: NYS Spanish 7-12 Required (Dual certification with Italian Preferred)Qualifications:-Deep knowledge of and experience implementing the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards and the NYS Learning Standards for World Languages.- Experience with a literacy-based, comprehensible input approach to language acquisition, including the use of authentic materials and a focus on developing all four language skills- Proficient in using Google Classroom and other Google for Education tools for classroom management and collaboration. Experience with video-based platforms like Flip (formerly FlipGrid) and interactive video tools like Edpuzzle. Familiarity with other educational technology is a plus (e.g., Duolingo for Schools, Kahoot!). Additional Requirements:- Cultural Competency with the ability to integrate the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world- Experience in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of a wide range of learners- Willingness to participate in extracurricular activities, such as advising a club and/or coaching- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders-Familiar with three modes of communication for lessons/assessments: interpretive, interpersonal and presentational; and be able to articulate how they are utilized in the classroom- Knowledge of proficiency-based assessment strategies and the ability to use data to inform instruction.- Love for language learning-Self-motivated-Effective classroom management practicesInterested Candidates should submit a cover letter and resume.
