WEST BABYLON SCHOOLSANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCYANNUAL PART-TIME APPOINTMENTDEPARTMENT CHAIRPERSONK-12 SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST2022-2023STIPEND: Per WBTA ContractQUALIFICATIONS:Master’s DegreeFive years of successful experience as a Library Media Specialist preferredProven ability to work effectively with students, staff and parents; leadership and human relation skillsLeadership in the use of computers and multimedia as instructional toolsSDA/SAS/SBL/SDL Certification preferred FUNCTIONS:Teaching assignment: To teach up to 4 classes per dayTo assist with collaborating the operations of the K-12 Library Media Specialist DepartmentTo conduct periodic informational and articulation meetings with librariansTo collaborate with librarians on Library Scope & Sequence, Computer and Multimedia Technology curriculum guidesTo coordinate/facilitate professional development/CTLE activities for librarians and library assistants as necessary; this may consist of workshops on best teaching practices, automation procedures, grant writing and database selectionsTo serve as liaison between SLMS and the Superintendent’s Office concerning library-related issuesTo communicate with public libraries, corporate vendors, Barnes & Noble, Suffolk Library System, WB BOCES School Library System & Consortium MembersTo work collaboratively with building principals and department in the budget development and expenditure processTo conduct program evaluations and oversee curriculum developmentParticipate in district-wide and regional meetings/committeesParticipate in the implementation of Strategic Plan Goals and Social Emotional Learning standards throughout the districtUtilize ATLAS software (digital platform for curriculum planning, assessment and reporting) to:Identify pacing, align and map curriculum, connect standards to units and assessmentsWork collaboratively with administrators and departments to promote meaningful conversations about teaching and learning to address the challenges of the Next Generation NYS standardsDevelop and enter data into the ATLAS digital platform specific to each courseAnyone interested in applying should send a letter of interest, updated resume and copy of certification by August 17, 2022 to: Mr. Shawn Hanley, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, 10 Farmingdale Road, West Babylon, NY 11704
