Assistant Principal – High School (grades 7-12) The Watkins Glen Central School is seeking a motivated leader to join our team in the beautiful southern Finger Lakes. The successful candidate will foster high expectations for all students and staff, will promote collaboration among all school stakeholders, and will contribute to a high-performance environment. This is an 11-month Administrative position.Requirements: Certification: School District Administrator, School District Leader, School Administrator/Supervisor, or School Building Leader Successful experience as a classroom teacher Knowledge of current trends and best practices in education. The belief that all students can learn at or above grade level. A child-centered philosophy, with proven ability as an innovative planner and effective communicator.Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Demonstrated leadership and expertise in staff supervision and development. An understanding of NYS Next Generation Learning Standards and assessments, with ability to use data to inform decision making and target instruction to improve student achievement. Knowledge of best practices to address needs of students with disabilities.Responsibilities: Participation in planning and decision making that advances educational programs. Enforces school District policies, State, and Federal laws, and New York State Education Department guidelines. Assist in the implementation of and participation in the District-wide professional development plan. Development of effective building safety, emergency and disaster procedures, and drills. Assist with the development and implementation of the master schedule. Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of a District's administrative team and professional learning community. Assist in the successful implementation of all testing, including but not Advanced Placement Test, New York State Regents Examinations, New York State Intermediate Exams in ELA, Math, and Science. Commitment to active parent involvement and the promotion of respect, dignity, equity, and inclusion for the school community. Commitment to the academic, social, and emotional success of all students.
