The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community is currently seeking a dynamic and engaging leader for a District Director position. The outline for the position is below. The primary responsibilities of the Director of Restorative Practices and Community Engagement are to support the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and supervise the District’s Restorative Practices initiative. Essential responsibilities include the supervision and coordination of the school counselors that directly support Restorative Practices in each building. The Director reports to each school once a week to provide on-site supervision and support for the implementation of Restorative Practices, including professional development for staff. In addition, the Director facilitates meetings to align building practices and determine necessary supports and professional development. Additional responsibilities include the district-wide implementation of Girls Inc. and My Brother’s Keeper, supporting the Wellness Center and possible student candidates for the Twilight Program, as well as supporting the building principal with assemblies and guest speakers that support student wellness. The Director of Restorative Practices and Community Engagement will prepare special reports as well as perform other assigned duties as requested by the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. This is a 12-month position that requires leadership at the building and district level. Start date is anticipated for July 12, 2023. QUALIFICATIONS:Possess valid NYS Administrative CertificationExperience in the area of Restorative Practices preferredExperience in the area of PPS is preferredExperience in fostering collaborative and productive relationships within the school communityExperience with supervision and evaluationExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsInnovative and problem-solving skills
