The Valhalla Union Free School District has a vacancy for an anticipated Probationary Special Education Teacher to provide instruction to students in grades 9-12 effective September 2023-24. Knowledge of New York State Special Education Regulations, and New York State curriculum, New York State Alternative Assessment and Skills and Achievement Commencement Credentials, along with effective classroom management and excellent communication skills required. The candidate should be experienced or familiar with career development, integrated learning, and universal foundation skills for basic reading, writing, listening, speaking, math, and thinking. Personal and professional qualities should include good interpersonal skills, use of technology, managing information and resources, and systems. Additional responsibilities include IEP (Individualized Education Program) preparation, participation at Committee for Special Education (CSE) meetings and testing as needed. Most importantly a successful candidate will demonstrate value in collaboration, a student-centered classroom environment and professional growth. Salary as per the VTA contract.Candidates should possess New York State Students with Disabilities 7-12?or?Generalist and New York State subject area certification or SOCE (Statement of Continued Eligibility) in one of the following areas: Math, Science, Social Studies, or English.
