Elementary Principal (Grades 3-5) - ProbationaryThe Valhalla Union Free School District is seeking an experienced and passionate Principal (Grades 3-5) for Kensico School to foster an inclusive environment and productive school climate that focuses on exemplary teaching and student learning. The school consists of 310 students and 60 professional staff. The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:Communicates frequently and effectively with students, teachers and parents.Supervises the implementation of the instructional program.Demonstrates a strong understanding and knowledge of NYS Learning Standards.Oversees the implementation of the MTSS framework.Works with instructional staff to understand and utilize data to inform instruction.Plans and implements professional learning sessions for faculty and staff.Supervises and evaluates teachers on a regular basis in accordance with the District’s Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) PlanSupervises the budget, procurement and delivery of instructional supplies and equipment.Monitors and evaluates all instructional programs.Oversees safety/emergency procedures that ensure the well-being of all members of the school community.Develops and coordinates an approach to student discipline consistent with the District Code of Conduct.Supervises the budget, procurement and delivery of instructional supplies and equipment.Oversees safety/emergency procedures that ensure the well-being of all members of the school community.Exercises fairness and equity when determining behavioral consequences.Collaborates with other administrators in the recruiting, hiring, training and placement of the school’s certified and classified personnel.Remains current in the profession through professional reading and other professional learning activities.Develops and maintains a program of community relations to encourage meaningful parent and community engagement with the school.Assists in screening, interviewing, and recommending candidates.Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on student progress and attendance.Prepares and submits the school’s budgetary requests and monitor expenditures of funds.Coordinates procedures for student scheduling, orientation, transition, and grading.Monitors the safety and security of the school building and property.Ensures adherence to all Board of Education policies and administrative procedures.Position qualifications: NYS School Building Leader (SBL) Certification is requiredMinimum of five years teaching experienceMinimum of three-year experience as a successful building administrator
