Valley Stream District #30VACANCY FOR 2025-2026Elementary Principal(Probationary) Valley Stream UFSD 30, proudly known as The Friendly Schools, is seeking an exceptional, student-focused leader to serve as the Principal of Forest Road Elementary School, which includes grades Pre-K through 6. The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader with strong emotional intelligence, a collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to fostering a climate of shared leadership. This individual will enable teachers, staff, families, and community members to participate in the school's success. This position reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and carries a four-year probationary term. The role is part of the Valley Stream Council of Supervisory Associations. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the Superintendent or their designated representative Starting date: On or about July 1, 2025 Qualifications: NYS Certification SBL/SAS/SDA (required) Prior Experience as an Elementary School Principal (required) Experience working with students with disabilities (required) Requirements: Instructional Leadership| The Principal will promote student-centered, high-quality instruction that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and engagement. They will support, monitor and supervise staff in implementing evidence-based, differentiated, and culturally responsive strategies, lead professional learning communities, and ensure technology is seamlessly integrated into teaching. Curriculum & Assessment| The Principal will oversee a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and ensure data-driven instruction that supports student growth. They will lead targeted interventions, maintain high expectations, and foster continuous improvement to challenge and support all learners. Supervision, Evaluation, & Professional Development| The Principal will cultivate a growth-oriented climate, conducting frequent observations and providing timely, actionable feedback. They will lead high-quality professional development, mentor educators, and foster shared leadership to ensure excellence and accountability. Welcoming & Affirming Climate| The Principal will create a safe, inclusive, and student-centered environment, promoting resilience, self-advocacy, and belonging. Management & Operations| The Principal will oversee daily school operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation, safety, and facility management. They will uphold ethical leadership and transparency, aligning decisions with district priorities and fostering a well-organized, welcoming climate. Family & Community Engagement| The Principal will cultivate strong partnerships with families and community stakeholders, ensuring open communication that values collaboration. They will lead initiatives that honor all voices and promote meaningful family engagement in student success.
