Job Posting: Chemistry & Special Education Teacher (Secondary) Tuckahoe Union Free School District (UFSD) Position: Chemistry & Special Education Teacher (Secondary) Location: Tuckahoe UFSD, Middle & High School Program Type: Full-Time, Tenure-Track Start Date: September 1, 2026 Compensation: As Per Contract Job Summary Tuckahoe Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to serve in a dual-role position as a Chemistry and Special Education Teacher. This position is designed for a highly qualified professional who is passionate about delivering rigorous science instruction while supporting students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes both academic achievement and social-emotional growth. Job Description The Chemistry & Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering standards-aligned chemistry instruction while also providing specialized support to students with disabilities. This role includes teaching in a variety of settings, such as general education, integrated co-teaching (ICT), resource room, and/or self-contained classrooms. The teacher will differentiate instruction, implement student support plans, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure all students have access to high-quality learning experiences. Job Responsibilities Teach Regents and/or high school-level Chemistry courses aligned with New York State Science Learning Standards Provide Special Education instruction and services in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs and 504 Plans Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to implement inclusive practices Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Create a safe, engaging, and inquiry-based classroom environment Prepare students for Regents exams and other assessments Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and supports Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and contribute to planning processes Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute positively to the school community Qualifications Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Chemistry (7–12) and Students with Disabilities (7–12) required Strong knowledge of chemistry content, including lab instruction and safety procedures Experience working with students with a range of learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs preferred Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices Experience with co-teaching and inclusive classroom settings preferred Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to work effectively as part of a team Commitment to equity, inclusion, and high expectations for all students Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Tuckahoe Union Free School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
