Job Posting: Art Teacher (Middle School & High School) Tuckahoe Union Free School District Position: Art Teacher (Grades 6–12) Location: Tuckahoe Union Free School District Start Date: September 1, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Probationary Position Compensation: Per Tuckahoe Teachers’ Association Contract Job Summary Tuckahoe Union Free School District is seeking a creative and student-centered Art Teacher to inspire and engage middle and high school students in visual arts education. The ideal candidate will foster artistic expression, creativity, and critical thinking while creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages all students to explore and develop their artistic abilities. Job Description The Art Teacher will work under the supervision of the building principal to deliver a comprehensive visual arts curriculum aligned with New York State Learning Standards for the Arts. This role includes planning and implementing engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and supporting students’ artistic, academic, and social development. The teacher will contribute to a vibrant arts program that values creativity, diversity, and student voice. Job Responsibilities Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in visual arts for middle and high school students Develop lessons that incorporate a variety of media, techniques, and art history perspectives Foster creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking through art-making Assess and evaluate student progress through projects, portfolios, and exhibitions Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Collaborate with colleagues to integrate arts across the curriculum where appropriate Organize and display student artwork in school and community exhibitions Maintain and manage art supplies, materials, and classroom resources Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events Qualifications Valid New York State Certification in Art Education (K–12) required Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred) Experience teaching middle and/or high school students preferred Strong knowledge of visual arts techniques, media, and art history Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Tuckahoe Union Free School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
