The Library Media Specialist helpsshape the learning experiences of our diverse student body by leveraging their expertise inlibrary resources, research skills, and educational technology. By fostering a love for reading,promoting information literacy, and nurturing critical thinking abilities, the Library MediaSpecialist will contribute to the intellectual growth and academic success of our students. Theideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with astrong commitment to staying abreast of current trends and developments in library science andeducation.Responsibilities Include:Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive library environment that supports student learningand engagementFoster a love for reading and promote lifelong learning through innovative literacyprograms and eventsCollaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into instruction and promoteinformation literacy across subject areasAssist students and staff in locating, evaluating, and effectively utilizing a wide range ofprint and digital resourcesProvide guidance and instruction on research methodologies and the ethical use ofinformationManage the library budget and resourcesCurate and maintain the library collection, ensuring it reflects the diverse needs andinterests of our student populationStay informed about emerging technologies, digital tools, and educational resources toenhance library services and support the learning processContribute to the development and implementation of district-wide library policies andproceduresPerform other duties as assignedSchool Library Experience PreferredAt Tuckahoe, we value a supportive and collaborative work environment where creativity,innovation, and professional growth are encouraged.
