Cottle Elementary and Tuckahoe Middle School Band and Music TeacherLocation: Tuckahoe Union Free School DistrictCertification Requirement: New York State Certification in Music EducationExperience Requirement: Prior experience in teaching elementary and/or middle school music educationJob Description:Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging music lessons for elementary and middle school students, focusing on band instruments and general music education.Instruct students in the fundamentals of music theory, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and notation.Teach students how to play various musical instruments, such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, percussion, etc., and provide guidance on proper technique and posture.Organize and conduct regular band rehearsals, guiding students in ensemble playing and fostering teamwork and collaboration.Assist students in selecting appropriate repertoire for performances and competitions, ensuring a diverse and inclusive selection that caters to varying skill levels and interests.Coordinate and lead performances, concerts, and other musical events throughout the school year.Collaborate with other music teachers and staff members to integrate music education with other subjects and extracurricular activities, promoting interdisciplinary learning and creative expression.Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students' progress, achievements, and upcoming events, maintaining open and transparent channels of communication.Stay current with developments in music education pedagogy, curriculum standards, and educational technology, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth and improvement.Uphold school policies and procedures, including those related to student behavior, safety, and welfare, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
