TITLE: Agriculture Science Teacher Certified PositionFull-time, 10-Month Position, Up to 10 days available over the summer Affiliation: Teacher’s Association Career and Technical Education Dept. Location: New Visions in Life Sciences at Cornell UniversityJob Description:• Provide instruction in Agricultural Science integrated with English (Honors Level) and Social Studies (Participation in Government / Economics also at the Honors Level) through the study of Food Systems and Sustainability consistent with the ENVS110 & 111 (Concurrent Enrollment via TC3) syllabi. (Participation in Government administered through Career & Technical Education Student Leadership Organizations (CTSO).)• Recruit (and train) mentors to host students in research laboratories and vet clinics as part of the work experience program (SAE).• Work extra hours with pay (FFA Advisor Stipend) to provide FFA leadership training, FFA instruction, and assistance for students.• Provide safety instruction in collaboration with Cornell Environmental Health & Safety to prevent job related accidents.• Help students develop successful workplace skills and a strong work ethic.• Identify, select, and purchase equipment and supplies necessary to support classroom instruction within budget constraints.• Collaborate with Cornell University (College of Agriculture / Veterinary Medicine / University Hospital for Animals) and local Agri-Businesses throughout the year for classroom, FFA and work experience opportunities.• Set and maintain standards for student behavior that establishes a positive learning environment.• Develop job shadow and intern opportunities for every student that are relevant to their interests.• Assess students on a regular basis and provide feedback to enable them and their parents to monitor their progress.• Plan and execute an annual research symposium / senior seminar for the purpose of creating community discussion on student research topics.• Assist the New Visions team with recruitment and selection of New Visions students (includes hosting an open house / accepted students’ night).• Promote the program via social media, event participation, and in print.QUALIFICATIONS:• Must hold New York State Teacher Certification in Agricultural and/or Biology or NYS Teacher’s Certification and ability to qualify for CTE Certification in one of those areas.• Additional certification in ELA or Social Studies is desirable.• Master’s Degree preferred.• Previous successful high school teaching experience is desirable.• Extensive knowledge, skills and professional experience in an environmental and life science setting or related field, excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, competent computer skills for instruction and management and skills in related technologies are desirable• Knowledge in Plant & Animal Sciences and FFA leadership• Must have the ability and desire to implement the 3-circle model (FFA/SAE/Classroom & Lab)START DATE: September 2, 2025. Up to 10 days available over the summer to prepare for the 25-26 fiscal year.SALARY: $56,500.00 (2025-2026 base salary), plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Master’s Degree and Grad Credits.
