TITLE: ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR – PROGRAM SPECIALIST(Student Services – Case Management) Affiliation: SEIU1 Full-Time, 12-month Position, Up to 40 hours per week Adult Education Department Location: TST BOCES, various Adult Education Sites DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Director of External Programs and Administrator of Adult Education, the Adult Education Instructor: Program Specialist, Student Services - Case Manager shall be responsible to:Collaborate with staff to support implementation of current research-based resources, conduct learning opportunities for teaching staff, using appropriate curriculum, instruction, and assessment processes for diverse groups of adults.Foster collaborative routines, procedures, and protocols for addressing program and student needsAdminister one on one-assessment and interview for each new participant on case load, assessing participant’s education and work history, need for support services, career preferences and barriers to meeting education outcome.Develop an Education and Employment Plan (EEP) for each participant on assigned caseload and ensure all student records are complete.Monitor, document, and follow up on participant’s attendance in all education and training activities.Assist with the collection, monitoring, assessing and analyzing of student progress and program data as directed.Ensure compliance with all SED, National Reporting System (NRS), Work force Investment Act (WIOA) and Employment Preparation Education (EPE) regulations and assist with completion and submission of program data reports.Attend all scheduled meetings with administration, case managers, RAEN, and NYSED staff as directed.Teach adult education classes up to 10 hours per week.Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities related to the position. QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors or Master’s Degree, New York State Teaching Certification and experience teaching adults is preferred. Must possess or obtain NYS Adult Education Certification. A minimum of 3 years’ experience mentoring teachers, designing curricula, and analyzing program data, in Adult Education is desirable. PREFERRED SKILLS:Evidence of successful experience in teaching adults in the areas of: English Literacy, English as a Second Language, Math, Science, SS, and/or Special Education.Evidence of strong organization, time management, and communication skills.Self-motivated with excellent ability to prioritize tasks and effectively follow-through to meet program outcomes.Good knowledge of area employers, service organizations, community agencies, as well as local employment and training regulations. START DATE: 10/10/22 SALARY: $30.81 per/hour. (Up to 40 hours per week - part of the Adult Education Bargaining Unit.)
