Tiegerman High School is looking for Transition Specialists for the upcoming 2025-2026 School Year! Under the supervision of the Principal and under the management of the Employment Specialist, the Transition Specialist is responsible for training students in the workplace to help perform job tasks and to learn interpersonal skills. The Transition Specialist fosters a variety of job training sites, ensures that protocols are followed, and that participating students receive instruction and support needed to optimize each work experience. Tiegerman is a 12 month program. This is a non-exempt position. This position is based in Richmond Hill, Queens NY. The hours are 7:30AM-4:00 PM.Responsibilities:Assist students by guiding them within their career placements in the communityTeach students how to use public transportation by means of travel trainingWork with employers/businesses to remove employment barriers in order to resolve issues related to community integration and independence for students with disabilitiesEnsure that situational assessments are completed on a monthly basisAssist with the completion of employability profiles for all studentsDocument internship Work Based Learning hours for all studentsParent/Staff training on Work Based Learning experiencesOther duties as assignedRequirements:Must have experience working with students in a workplace settingExcellent organizational/communication skillsMust have a minimum of a Bachelor’s DegreeTiegerman is an EEO and AA employer.
