Tiegerman Middle School is a special education program servicing children with autism spectrum disorders from preschool through high school. At Tiegerman, our mission is to identify children with language and autism spectrum disorders early to provide educational programs which will prepare them for a world filled with words, sentences, stories and messages. Language is a symbol system; it provides the means to reach out to the world. Tiegerman is a 12 month program.Tiegerman Middle School is looking for a School Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW) to join their team!Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provides mandated individual and group school based counseling in accordance with IEP mandatesIdentifies and assesses academic problems through analysis of factors that impact student adjustment including factors in the home, school, and communityAssist students in recognizing/modifying behaviors that interfere with learningProvides counseling and psycho-education to parentsServes as a liaison between families and school to positively promote collaborative process in education planningServes as a liaison between community agencies and assists in fostering communication between school, parents/guardians, and the communityServes as a liaison for school staff regarding issues related to child protective servicesConduct psychosocial assessments and intake interviewsConducts classroom observationsCollaborates with school staff in implementing strategies to promote student adjustmentParticipate as members of the school based/multi-disciplinary team to develop interventions to promote student successProvides crisis intervention servicesProvides staff consultation on social-emotional environmental issues affecting students participation in learning processConducts outreach to foster collaboration between home, school, and communityDevelops and provides trainings that address goals and mission of the school, as well as the needs of the students.Maintains accurate clinical and student records with adherence to program standards Must hold valid NYSED certification in the following: School Social Worker CertificateMust have a NYS Social Worker License (LMSW or LCSW)Tiegerman is an EEO/AA employer.
